Did I get in trouble at home?
Well, yes and no.
Yes - My dad taught me a lesson I won't forget in a lifetime.
And no - No,he didn't beat me.
[Ok, let's go back to the beginning of the story]
=. =. =. =
My heart was pounding wildly as I walked on shaky feet back home that evening.
A few minutes ago, I had been certain I was going to pass this defining exam in flying colors.
But now, my whole life was crashing around me.
Well it was just another exam, except that my dad places so much premium on academic performance.
Shortly before I got into the house, I saw my mom, and my heart rate actually tripled.
I knew I was in for it that night.

In my defense, there was a legitimate reason why I had failed.
It wasn't only me.
That year, there had been mass failure in my exam center. Almost 80% of us had failed chemistry.
So I spouted this story to my dad immediately he came home that night, thinking it would save me.
But, he taught me a proper lesson - the Nigerian way.
[This piece of content is not centrally motivational. But there are a few motivational lessons you may find]
=. =. =. =
That night, my dad stripped me of my excuse.
80% had failed?
Well, 20% hadn't.
The first question he asked me was - why was I part of those that had failed? I could have chosen to be part of the 20% that hadn't.
So, that excuse was knocked out.
The second question he asked me was what my full name is. [And this is where the lesson for today begins]
Ohanwe Praise Tochukwu - I answered him.
Then he asked me if my name was 'many people,' and apparently, my name isn't that.
Again,my second excuse had been sent flying out the window in a matter of minutes.
My dad went on to explain that the consciousness that I was not the only one who had failed had created an illusive safe space for me in my mind.
If I fixated on that thought, I wouldn't see the need for improvement and wouldn't do better.
After a long heart-to-heart with him, I realized I was alone and had to take responsibility for MYSELF.
The next year, I had a stellar performance and amazing results all through, and the rest is history.

Remember, I told you this isn't about motivation.
It's about something else.
Now, I need you to pay closer attention…
=. =. =. =
The conversation with my dad has taught me something that is applicable in marketing/content creation.
And I call it, 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝙊𝙒𝙀𝙍 𝙊𝙁 𝙊𝙉𝙀
Have you ever come in contact with great content?
They all - or almost all - subscribe to what I am about to teach you.
This is a simple technique.
𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
This establishes a deep connection between you as the business owner/content creator and the person who interacts with your content.
It takes away most of the excuses that person would have given, and leaves him with a sense of individuality.
With that sense of individuality comes a sense of responsibility.
=. =. =. =
Many times, just like the "me" of the story, people tend to give the excuse that they are not alone. That it didn't happen to only them.
This consciousness causes them to feel relaxed, and humans would rather take the path of least resistance.
𝙎𝙤, 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙮 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩/𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩, 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.

So, here are a few practical examples of what I am saying.
‼️Instead of saying - "You all are amazing"
How about you say - "You are amazing."
‼️Instead of saying - "This product is for all of you"
Try saying - "This product was specially made for just YOU!"
=. =. =. =
Remember, the goal is to speak as though you were talking to ONE person within ONE target audience.
That way, your content cuts deeper and goes a longer way to eliminate the excuse of - "well, it's not only me."
This epistle has become too long, but I hope you get the whole point.
Incorporate this knowledge when next you are creating content, and watch the difference.
Ciao!!!
